Support for
Atypical Families
A diagnosis is not an end, but a new beginning. We know the journey is challenging, especially when shaped by systemic bias. Here you will find reliable information, legal support, and a community of care.
A Letter to Your Family
"In 2019, when we received our son Noah’s diagnosis, the world seemed to stop. In that moment, I looked for answers, support, and above all, a mirror where I could see our reality as a Black family reflected. I found silence. There were no manuals talking about our specific challenges, nor spaces where our lived experience wasn't just a footnote."
"The InvisibiliDOWN Institute was born from that absence, but it flourished from the deep love for Noah and for all children that the system insists on not seeing. Our mission is to ensure that no other family walks alone. We want to secure not just the right to survive, but the right to a full life, dignified healthcare, and the future we dream of for our children."
"Welcome. Here, invisibility has no place."
Why do we talk about Race?
The experience of raising a child with Down Syndrome is unique for every family, but in Brazil, skin color often dictates access to care.
Black families often face "Diagnostic Racism": medical delays in identifying Trisomy 21 in Black babies, postponing vital early stimulation. They also face "Epistemic Distrust": when a mother's concerns are dismissed or ignored by health systems.
InvisibiliDOWN Institute exists to ensure your child is seen, counted, and cared for with the dignity they deserve.
